DIY Termite bait installation-How easy is it, and what should I be looking for?

Is DIY Termite Bait Installation, really as easy as its made out to be? Well that depends entirely on the system you decide to install.

Due to the excessive liability which Termite Management Specialists are required to operate under, most professionals will opt for a proven system, which allows multiple treatment methods to take place. This usually means that the termite bait stations they install will generally be more complex to install and treat than the run of the mill DIY Termite Bait stations.

For example, the Exterra system is definitely not a DIY Termite Bait system, and requires slightly more effort and expertise in installation and management than the ‘Green’ Termite Bait System. The Exterra Termite Baiting System must be installed with a into a hand dug hole in the lawn or garden, with the attractant materials placed into the station. Once active termites are detected by removing the lid and inspecting the interior of the station, then a termite bait matrix specific to that system must be installed for feeding.

On the other hand, the Green Termite Baiting Systems is simply a block of Radiata pine, cut into a wedge shape with two holes drilled in the top. Installation is simply done with a lump or sledge hammer, and should be hammered into the soil or garden. Simple. The problem with this DIY Termite Bait, is that there the homeowner is restricted to what effective means of treatment are available. Installation of a bait matrix is not possible, because the termite bait stations have no cavity for feeding purposes, which means that a dust treatment is almost the only viable option.

The Termicure Termite Baiting System started it’s life as a Professional Termite Baiting system, with a variety of attractant materials, (5 in total), and has been adapted with the introduction of new technology, enabling simpler termite feeding processes. The Termicure termite baiting system is now a hybrid system which is used as a professional termite baiting system by Termite Professionals, and also by vigilant homeowners as a DIY Termite Bait system.

So do your research before you spend money buying a DIY Termite Bait System. The key factors you need to look out for are: Are there multiple treatment options, Are they available as a DIY Termite Bait system (some systems ie:Exterra is only a available to professionals), do they offer full technical support to help with any issues, and are they used by professionals.
